The island of Ustica (in Sicily, province of Palermo) is located 67 km north-west of Palermo and 95 km west of Alicudi. It has a volcanic origin and occupies an area of approximately 8.65 km2 (it measures 3.5 km in length and 2.5 km in width). The approximately 1,319 inhabitants are mainly concentrated in the town close to the port, even if there are small clusters of houses scattered throughout the island. Ustica is a volcanic island and as such, it has beautiful coves formed mainly of coarse black sand, pebbles, cliffs and concrete platforms.
